5 Devastating New Details Just Released About Chris Cornell's Suicide
So sad!
Growing up as a teen in the 90's made me a prime audience participant of the grunge music scene.
Nirvana? Hell yes!
Soundgarden? DOUBLE hell yes!
"Black Hole Sun" was pretty much my own personal anthem that I had on repeat while I angrily wrote essays on World War II and used my TI-89 calculator to draw designs instead of figuring out the answers to the trigonometry questions assigned.
I'm just a regular old person now, but I will be honest: When I woke up to hear about Chris Cornell's passing, it stung my heart and made me nostalgic for the days when his music ruled my life.
Much like when Kurt Cobain died, I felt a sense of loss.
Obviously it's not the kind of feeling when I lose someone like my father, but Chris Cornell was a part of my coming of age tale. He provided the soundtrack to my life during a time when depression was my brain's master and all I had was his smooth buttery voice that went from melodious to rock in a single switch.
So, here I am, about to report that Chris Cornell, 52, died Wednesday night in Detroit after performing a live show with Soundgarden.
My heart, along with his family, friends, and fans has been broken by this tragic set of circumstances.
Here are the latest details about the death:
1. Chris Cornell was found hanged in the bathroom of his hotel room.
Initial reports indicated that police had found signs that would lead them to believe it was a suicide, however they could not confirm what those details were.
The Detroit Free Press reported, "The Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy on 52-year-old Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden musician who died last night in Detroit … The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not yet been completed. There is no additional information at this time."
Hotel security called police after doing a well-check visit on the singer who was staying at the MGM Grand Detroit just after midnight; his show ended at The Fox Theater at around 11:00 p.m.
Security found Cornell on the bathroom floor with a band around his neck, though authorities have yet to confirm that exact information.
2. Chris Cornell's last tweet didn't indicate any sign of distress.
