Parents cry negligence as baby dies during delivery
GREATER NOIDA: An infant died while being delivered in a private hospital in Jewar and family members alleged medical negligence. The couple alleged that the doctor engaged a woman sweeper as midwife for the delivery which led to the death of the infant.
Pramod Kumar (26), a resident of Kanun Goyan village, Jewar, said he had admitted his wife Sonakshi (24) to a private hospital for delivery on Thursday evening.
"There was a woman gynaecologist at the hospital. However, the doctor called in a sweeper instead of a qualified nurse for help which led to the infant's death," he said.
Pramod alleged that the sweeper also used knives and scissors during the delivery causing injuries to the infant. The family members later admitted the child and mother to another private hospital where the infant was declared brought dead.
Anurag Bhargava, chief medical officer, GB Nagar, said he had not received any information about the incident so far. Rajpal Tomar, SHO, Jewar police station, said he got to know about it through mediapersons. "The baby's parents have not filed any such complaint with the police. We will look into the matter and take suitable action," he said.
